“So do not fear, for I am with you; Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
– Isaiah 41:10
Certified Restoration Clinician

Jennifer Wilson

Jennifer Wilson has been an  equine clinician for Colors of Hope the last four years.  After walking a difficult path as a child, she realized that there were many affairs in her life that were left unresolved.  Jennifer realized she needed to work on these affairs in order to be the best she could be when helping others. God personally placed the Colors of Hope Equine program on her heart. Therefore, she knew that in order to help others who have experienced various types of trauma and abuse she first needed to help herself.  Jennifer realized the moment she began the equine program that she longed for more. Wilson realized that she could do amazing work by using one of God’s tools to heal the brokenness in her life, the horse.

Jennifer currently owns many horses in her personal life, but she has not been around horses her whole life. The first time she began to work with horses was after a divorce from her first husband. Horses became her form of rehabilitation in order to escape the struggles and torment in her life at that time. She has started many young horses on groundwork and then transitioned them into the long hours of horseback riding. Though there were many trials, Jennifer remained relentless and can proudly say she is self-taught when it comes to working and training horses.

Jennifer has felt the love of horses for over 13 years, with her affection for horses Wilson took advantage of the benefits horses brought into her life and used them to rehabilitate from her own trauma and abuse. Currently, she teaches her own children to ride and build a relationship with these marvellous animals, along with teaching her nieces, nephews and many other children throughout the community. Working with horses and children has become a lifelong passion that Jennifer truly enjoys.

Jennifer is currently working as an Equine Program Coordinator at a ranch in Texas that focuses on child survivors of sex trafficking. Jennifer uses the Colors of Hope program and the Bible, to help girls overcome their traumas and fears. She has gotten the opportunity to watch them grow closer to God. Jennifer wholeheartedly believes in the Colors of Hope equine program, through the use of this program it has not only changed her life, but the life of her family, the girls at the ranch and her community.

Jennifer reminds the girls to stay their own flower in their own flower garden. Jennifer explains that people should not uproot their healing process to jump into another person’s area. Wilson uses sunflowers as a metaphor to remind the girls to keep their eyes focused on God and his plan for their lives, and to keep moving forward, do not look back, because a sunflower will always follow the sun.

Below is one of her favorite verses from the Bible:

“So do not fear, for I am with you; Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

– Isaiah 41:10
